Locomotive Project

My drawings are based on the South African Railways locos that worked the
2foot gauge networks in parts of the country. Being narrow gauge, when
converted to 7 1/4" ( or 7 1/2 because the wheel all run on the inside of the
chassis) these engines turn out BIG, something similar to what happens to your
Durango & Silverton locomotives. The one in the pics that I included is of the
Class NG6, 4-4-0 tender, she stands 860mm height ,2600mm long and 560mm wide
and is one of the smaller locomotives that was used. The bigger engines were
garrets of 2-6-2+2-6-2 and tender locos of 2-8-2 wheel arrangements all
turning out well over 4.5 meters. There are 15 different classes of locomotive
on the narrow gauge and I wish to complete all the drawings for all 15 and
have at least 1 of each.
Living in South Africa were the hobby is relatively small, its rather hard to
come by miniature fittings and spares from the local shop so by making these
brutish engines I can use industrial fittings and spares thus accelerating the
pace of building. But were not all that far behind as I can quite comfortably
e-mail my drawings down to the laser profiling company and they send back the
parts.
Let me know what you think of my engine
Cheers
Dries
